A Draw Menu appears after clicking the "GENERATE OR EDIT DRAW" button on the Main Menu. The Draw Menu allows you to assign or change start positions for each racer and insert a late racer’s start position and information.

The draw menu allows you to edit or generate a draw either automatically (refer to section 6.1), or manually (refer to section 6.2).

6.1 Automatically Assign Start Positions

Automatically assign start positions are applicable to those who wish to perform a computer draw for ALL racers.

6.1.1     To perform a computer draw for all racers, click the ‘Automatically Assign Start Positions’ button on the Draw Menu.  The following dialogue box appears.

6.1.2     If you are performing a computer draw click the ‘Continue’ button. If you are performing a hand draw, click the ‘Cancel’ button and refer to section 6.2; Manually Input Bib and Start Positions.  The following dialogue box appears.

6.1.3     Enter the number required in the text box. This number is usually 15 or 30, depending on which you draw.

6.1.4     Click on ‘Yes’ to perform a computer draw. **If you wish to perform a manual draw on the top seed, refer to the NOTE at the end of section 6.1. The following Measures Query appears.

6.1.5     Click the ‘Yes’ button to accept your method and value.

Note: Should there be a tie for 15th position (when you draw the top 15) or 30th position( when you draw the top 30), you will get a message enquiring if you want to expand the draw to include the tie.

6.1.6     This figure illustrates the message you will get if you are drawing the top 15, it will differ slightly if you are drawing the top 30.

6.1.7     Click ‘Yes’. The following Measures Query is displayed.

6.1.8     Enter the first BIB # to be assigned to start position 1 (usually 1) and click ‘Okay’.  The following Measures Query is displayed.

6.1.9     If there are missing BIBs click Yes, otherwise click ‘No’ and proceed to step 11.

If you have selected ‘Yes’ to enter missing BIB’s, the following dialogue box is displayed.

6.1.10   Enter the first missing BIB number and click okay. Notice how the BIB numbers skipped are indicated and the ‘Last BIB’ number has changed.

6.1.11   Continue until you have entered all the missing BIB numbers.

6.1.12   After all missing BIB numbers are entered, click the Cancel button. The following dialogue box is shown.

6.1.13.  Select ‘Yes’ to generate the following report or ‘No’ to omit the report.

6.1.14   If you want to print click on ‘Print’ or to not print – click on ‘Exit’.  The following Measures Query is displayed.

6.1.15   Click ‘Yes’.  The following Measures Query is displayed:

6.1.16   Click ‘Yes’. 14.  Click ‘Print’ to print, or ‘Exit’ to cancel printing.

6.1.17   Click ‘Yes’ to view the following Report.

6.1.18   Select print to go to the ‘Print’ window, or ‘Exit’ to return to the ‘Draw’ menu.

6.2 Manually Input Bib and Start Positions

To do a manual draw of the entire field, select ‘Manually Input Bib and Start Positions’ from the Draw Menu.

Warning: DO NOT USE ‘MANUALLY INPUT BIB AND START NUMBERS’ TO INSERT A RACER AFTER THE DRAW HAS BEEN PERFORMED – THIS WILL RESULT IN YOU HAVING TO RECREATE THE DRAW MANUALLY BY CREATING A NEW FILE.
Note: The following measures query is only displayed when you are trying to change a draw that has already been done.

6.2.1     Click the ‘Continue’ button to manually input starting positions and bib numbers.  If the draw has not already been done, the following Measures Query is displayed:

6.2.2     If you select ‘Yes’, the pick list will be displayed alphabetical.

6.2.3     If you select ‘No’ the pick list will be displayed in point order.

6.2.4     The following window appears displaying a list of all racers participating in the race.

Note: The following Pick Racer box is superimposed over the above screen.

6.2.5     Double click on a racer to select or highlight the racer and click the hit ‘Enter’ key. The arrows right of the racers name may be used to scroll down and view more racers. The racer’s information is automatically entered in the Manually Input Bib and Start Position screen and the cursor is placed in the Bib # field (the number that is shown there is their seed position).  When you enter the first number in the bib numbers and hit the ‘Enter’ key, the following Measures Query is displayed.

6.2.6     Click Yes.

6.2.7     Enter the first number in the ‘Start Position’ and hit the ‘Enter’ key.  The following Measures Query is displayed:

6.2.8     Click ‘Yes’.

6.2.9     Click the ‘Save’ button.

Note: The Auto Generate Start Bib Numbers and Positions windows will only be displayed for the first racer.  For each successive racer you only need to select the name and hit the ‘Enter’ key for both the Bib numbers and Start Positions and the field will automatically enter the next bib number and start position number.
Warning:If you are missing a bib, you will have to enter the bib number. The Auto Generate Bib Number window should re-appear after a couple of entries.

6.2.10   Repeat steps 6.2.4 for all racers.

6.2.11   Click the ‘Exit’ button.

6.3  A Combination of Automatic and Manual Draw:

This is done when there is a manual draw for the top 15 or 30 athletes, ties and 999s and an automatic draw of the rest of the field.

6.3.1     To automatically assign start positions to other than the top seed, ties.  Select automatically assign start positions from the Draw menu.

6.3.1.1        Click on Continue

6.3.1.2        Enter either 15 or 30 for the top draw.  The exception would be if there is a tie for 15th position in the case of a top 15 draw or 30th position in the case of a top 30 draw – then the field would be increased to 16 or 31.  Click on OKAY.

6.3.1.3        Enter the bib number to be assigned to start position 1.  Click on Okay.

6.3.1.4        Click on No is you don’t want to skip any bib #.  If you do want to skip a bib # Click ‘Yes’ (see 6.1.9 to 6.1.11)

6.3.1.5        Click on No.

6.3.1.6        Click on No.

6.3.1.7        Click No.

6.3.1.8        Click on No.

6.3.1.9        Click ‘Yes’ if you want a list of names with matching seed points or ‘No’ (usually selected if you have draw cards).

6.3.2     To Manually Input Bib Numbers and Start Positions.  Select ‘Manually Input Bib Numbers and Start Positions’ from the Draw Menu.

6.3.2.1        If you select ‘Yes’, the pick list will be displayed alphabetical.

6.3.2.2        If you select ‘No’ the pick list will be displayed in point order.  This window is shown

6.3.2.3        Click on the 1^st^ racer from the draw.

6.3.2.4        You must then change the bib# to 1 which will give you the following message:

6.3.2.5        Click on Yes.  Change the Start Position to 1 which will give you the following message:

6.3.2.6        Click on Yes.

  • Select the next athlete from the drop down list and hit enter – this will automatically insert 2 in the bib # window.  Hit enter again and it will automatically insert 2 in the start position.  Hitting enter again will save the entries.  Continue doing this until you have all your top seed entered.  This procedure is the same for ties and your 999’s.

6.3.2.7        Go to the F5 (View Racers) window and click on Bib# column to sort by bib  #’s

6.3.2.8        You now have your Measures entries in the same order as your draw cards.  Double check each draw card with this window to make sure Measures has the correct start order as was shown on the drawboards.  This is extremely important especially if the bib toss was done at the draw.

6.4 Insert Late Entries

The ‘Insert Late Entries’ option is used to add entries after a draw.

Note: The Insert Late Entries option cannot be performed until you have added a racer to the race using the Add Racer To Race function (refer to section 5.1).

6.4.1     Click the ‘Insert Late Entries’ button on the Draw Menu.  The following Query appears.  Click on YES to pick racers from the points list and NO to manually enter the racer.

6.4.1       Click the ‘Insert Late Entries’ button on the Draw Menu.  The following ‘Insert Late Entries’ window appears with the ‘Pick Racer’ dialogue box on top of it.

6.4.2     Double click on the racer you have added from the list.

6.4.3     Enter assigned bib# and start position.

6.4.4     Click on Insert.  The following figure shows the ‘View Racer’ report with the late entry inserted to start in 16th position.  Note how all the start numbers have shifted for the field starting after bib #89.

Note: If you are entering a racer that would be starting last place and if the start lists have already been distributed – add the racer to your race, and assign his start number the SECOND FROM THE LAST.  This is for safety reasons so that volunteers remain in place until the last racer on the start list is down the hill.  I would also announce the late entry to the START REF, FINISH REF, TD, CHIEF OF RACE and especially TIMING (you might have to do a new timing disc for Timing).

6.5 Change Start Positions:

This function is used when you want to change a racer’s start position but keep their bib number.

This function is rarely used.

Warning:You will have to make two changes in order to avoid an error message stating there are duplicate start numbers.  ie:

The following is an example of you to start Bib number 11 in 13th position. You will have to assign Bib \#11 start position 13 and then change Bib \#’s 12 and 13’s start numbers to 11 and 12.

6.5.1     Select ‘Change Start Positions’ from the Draw Menu

6.5.2     Click Save

6.5.3     Click Save

6.5.4.    Click Save

6.5.5     You then enter the bib number of the racer you want to change and then enter the start number the racer is to start at.

6.4.6     You must then enter the bib number of the racers in between the above racer’s original start and his/her’s new start number and correct all their start numbers.

6.5.7     Then save, go to F5 (View Racers) and confirm that the new start numbers are correct.
